As Elections Approach,

I can’t help but feel this blog is going to turn into some sort of political blog. Because the rampant stupidity just really fires me up.

I can’t believe these people are even being taken seriously in comparison to Obama.

No, Obama isn’t perfect. But he’s a hell of a lot closer than these sad excuses for politicians.

I’m really, really, REALLY tired

Of people equating socialism with stealing.

Socialism does not necessitate thieving “hard-earned” money from rich people and giving “handouts” to the poor.

Socialism does not entail equal finances for every human being in the country. There can still be some richer or poorer than others.

Socialism would not automatically allow “lazy” people to prosper and hard-workers to be damned to an eternity of the same finances.

I swear to gandalf, if people would take 20 minutes (hell, even five, or any at all compared to the none that they do now) minutes to do a bit of research, they would understand that:

1) Non-contributers in society would not be rewarded for it. There would not be nearly as wide an income gap, sure, but those who chose not to contribute would typically be punished somehow, not rewarded. Those who work harder can certainly see better results.

2) The highest earning people in the country have not earned all of their money by “hard work.” Some of it, maybe. But all? That’s absolutely impossible. And so many of them are involved in corruption up the wazoo, tax evasion, loopholes, etc.

3) The current system is royally backwards.

How can anyone claim to be so comfortable with how unbelievably skewed the financial system is presently? You can see it year by year. To claim socialism is synonymous with a professor averaging test scores and giving the whole class the same failing grade or something is asinine. There is NO cap on wealth. And this is very obvious based on our current situation. All of you who claim to be against a fairer system are those who are likely relatively comfortable financially. And with the way things are going, there’s a good chance you soon won’t be. Unless you’re already incredibly wealthy, in which case you’re simply being greedy, and there is no other reason for your choices.

I don’t know how to beat this into people’s heads. You’re vehemently against a system that you don’t even understand.

Learn it. At least TRY to understand its implications. I beg of you.

Considering America is the “most powerful” and “advanced” nation in the world, our beliefs are so amazingly shallow and mindless.

And you know what? In an appeal to your rampant patriotism, I hope you stop to consider how deeply ashamed our founding fathers would be.

An Article About Obama That Everyone in America Should Read

“Obama has steadfastly refrained from waging the culture war, while the right has accused him of a “war against religion.” He has offered to cut entitlements (and has already cut Medicare), while the Republicans have refused to raise a single dollar of net revenue from anyone. Even the most austerity-driven government in Europe, the British Tories, are to the left of that. And it is this Republican intransigence—from the 2009 declaration by Rush Limbaugh that he wants Obama “to fail” to the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s admission that his primary objective is denying Obama a second term—that has been truly responsible for the deadlock. And the only way out of that deadlock is an electoral rout of the GOP, since the language of victory and defeat seems to be the only thing it understands.”

The difference is so… I can’t… What? Just happened?

My summary of tonight’s debt speeches-

Obama: “I will proceed to tell you a very detailed approach, addressing all aspects of the debt issue. The rich will still be taxed, yes, because they earn over $250,000 per year and can certainly afford it. Those under will not face tax increases. Spending will be cut in areas which receive bloated funding, such as Defense. Social programs which benefit huge amounts of people (i.e. Social Security, Medicare, you name it) will not be cut. The debt ceiling unfortunately will be raised to allow time to address all of these programs whilst simultaneously paying back America’s debts, thus avoiding an inevitable default and subsequent financial catastrophe.”

Boehner: “As a small town Amurrcan, I don’t want my fellow small town Amurrcans to be harmed by evil taxes. Because I’m so new (lie) to Washington, I was surprised (lie) and disgusted by debt and taxes on Amurrcans. I have two daughters. I’m a father. And a small town Amurrcan…… No taxes.”

CHRIST ALMIGHTY, THE FRUSTRATION.

Everybody is speaking of this debt crisis as if it were single handedly Obama’s doing. Firstly, that’s pretty impossible, considering our country has been in debt for decades upon decades. Secondly, it’s also just flat out incorrect. You want to know who is most responsible for the economic situation we are currently in?

Perspective:
Jimmy Carter’s administration actually lowered the national debt 3.3%.
Bill Clinton’s likewise lowered the national debt, a total of 9.7%.
Obama’s has raised it a total of 9%. Compared to other democrats, a significant increase. But then, not nearly the significance of some other debt-creators.

“Old” Republicans similarly brought about small decreases in debt. However, Reagan brought about a rise in “new” Republicans:
Reagan’s administration raised national debt 20.6%.
George H.W. Bush’s, 13%.
And the winner of the lot?
George W. Bush, with an astounding 27.8%.

So I think it’s pretty justified when I get a little bit angry hearing Republican upon Republican blame the so-called “recent (?!) debt crisis” on democrats, more specifically Obama. Many people were against bailouts, government funding of such entities as Medicare, etc. Fine. But before you start throwing blame at people for things you disagreed with, look at the numbers. Plain, simple, straightforward numbers. If anyone has put us here, it is those presidents past who tossed money into wars. Which happen to be things another great chunk of America disagreed with. But oh, nevermind, those were okay because Republicans mostly approved of those. They were in the name of freedom from those evil jihadist terrorists.

I wish I could accurately portray my frustration and disgust with the direction our politics have begun leaning. And I wish I was kidding when I said I’m a little more ashamed with the actions of our country everyday. And most of all, where has the role of education gone in this debate? It seems people are more quick to place blame than they are to understand what it is they’re accusing people of. Take the time to learn. Maybe then you’d understand not all of this is one man’s fault. In fact, I’d argue little of it is. Of course this goes to all people of all beliefs. This is just one in particular I feel I’m being bashed over the head with, repeatedly. And you know what? IT HURTS.

“It doesn’t matter that our country is on the brink of financial ruin, beyond any hope of remedy. I refuse to let the American people pay even slightly increased taxes. Because that’s reasonable, right?”
